BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — A Boise teen, and high school senior, plans to sign with the University of Louisville Track & Field team.
Cole Valley Christian School Senior Brooke Weimer, 17, plans to sign with the school this Friday.
Brooke's family moved to Boise about ten years ago.She has won state long jump every year she has competed and last year PR'd at 19'10," according to CVCS.
This year, Brooke was ranked 1st in the 200m, 400m, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, long jump, and triple jump for 2A. She was also ranked fourth in the 800m, and fifth in the high jump.
"We are very excited for Brooke to have this opportunity to be developed and represent Idaho at the college level," CVCS said. "We could not be more proud of her."
With encouragement from her coach, Brian Stith, Brooke also competed in the Heptathlon at the Junior Olympics - where the athletes compete in 7 events and their points are totaled to determine placement. She placed fourth among over 20 competing athletes.
Brooke's mom, Shannon Weimer, said her performance in Heptathlon led to her being heavily recruited by colleges up until a few weeks ago when she verbally committed to the Cardinals.
Shannon said she actually grew up playing soccer but had to switch directions once they moved here from Alaska.
"Brooke took to track and field like a fish to water; winning a state title her first year," Shannon said.
In 2019 Brooke was also nominated for Gatorade Athlete of the year.

Brooke also currently holds Idaho's all Classification State placements of 1st in the 200m, 400m, and long jump; 2nd in the 300m hurdles; 3rd in the 100m hurdles and triple jump; and 6th in the 100m.
